Style Inspiration of The Moment;  Iggy Azalea

All hail the white girl Rapper from down under, IGGY AZALEA. From Mullumbimby,NSW. Iggy has come a long way since her early days of mixtapes and uploading freestyle videos onto youtubeand now collaborates with the like of T.I ( her mentor) for Grand Hustle.

Iggy isn't any rapper though, this girl has some major fashion credentials too. With a contract with Wilhelmina as a Model, and having recently modelled in New York Fashion Show earlier in the summer, Ms Azelea's style is super edgy but completly refined.

Her style is never boring, never simple,  always unique and always sexy. Iggy loves to wear short shorts, tight skirts and patterned pieces. She stands out from a music industry that contains women like Gwen Stefani, Lady Gaga and Jessi J. What I love about her style is that no matter how short her skirt, or how tight her shorts are there seems to be always an air of Ladylike-ness to it somehow. Her makeup is always immaculate too. Jealous much? I am. Let it long continue the dominance of the 'iggy-tail' too.

Debs Post No3

The Dress..

As I've said, I rented my dress. It was an Alice Temperley evening gown from her A/W '09 collection. The beading is very barouque and vintage inspired with a high halter neck with chiffon and silk around the top of it. The waist had a small tailored in belt that cinched it in further.
Originally I wanted a colour for my dress and had my eyes set on a pink Oscar DellaRenta gown that was very 'red carpet' rather than 'debsy'  according to my mam. In the end, we agreed it wasn't right and kept searching. After some time in the covet dressing room, we arrived at this Temperley dress. I'm pretty sure it was love at first sight <3

Debs Post No:2 The Makeup..

The Makeup...

I got my makeup done in MAc in Brown Thomas, and my god I loved every minute of it. I have a very light hand when I apply makeup, so this was a whole new experience for me, and for me I learned alot about what suits my face and how to make my eyes 'pop' which was one of the goals of the day. The makeup artist who worked on me was Aoife, she was great and unerstood completly what I wanted; porcelain like skin, natural but with a little coverage on my chin and t-zone, actual contouring ( Still havent grasped how to do this myself! Some advice would be great) make my eyes pop which was achieved. When I saw myself at the end of the hour I was stunned. Honestly, I've had issues with comparing myself to my friends, I think most girls do, but when I saw myself, well I was gobsmacked. Who knew I could scrub up that well

I felt like a fucking princess ..

Debs Post No.1

I'm feeling human again after an amazingly brilliant unforgettable night at Dunboyne Castle Hotel & Spa
It was a long ol' day and night. I was in town for half 11, to have a bite to eat with my mum and dad in Cornucopia ( I had tomatoe, butterbean and coconut soup with a chickpea salad) my dad wasn't too impressed with the place, it's a vegan and veggie restaurant. We're a thorough meat eating family. So it's understandable. I collected my dress from Covet, and made my way over to Brown Thomas to get my makeup done in Mac.

Debutante in Training...

I'm yet to come to the realisation...

that my Debs is tomorrow night. Its been in planning for so long now, it feels unreal that is actually going to happen. So much frustrations I'm sure have been felt by girls alike when it came to finding the perfect dress, perfect shoes and bag and getting the most flawless makeup hitting the perfect scale. I'm no different. I've had my dress since March.... eeeh bit eager much? Yes, yes I am. And I only recently got my shoes and bag, recently being several days ago... But having got my nails done today- Shellac(/ I'll post a picture later!) I'm well in the zone now for tomorrow night and thought sure why not share my eagerness with you guys!

Both shoes and bag are Cobalt Blue which is set to be a huge colour this A/W.

Cobalt Heels with Dolly Strap Aldo - 115 euro ( I split the price with my mam)
Cobalt Clutch Bag with Stud New Look - 19.99 euro

My dress is an Alice Temperley Evening Gown from her A/W 2009 collection, I've rented it from Covet, the Borrowers Boudoir in Powerscourt, Dublin. I'm absoutly obsessed with it.It's black and high necked with vintage beading from the neck to above the bust and end in a scallop shape. I currently don't have a picture of it and so their will be a grand unveiling tomorrow of the whole ensemble!

P.S for non Irish readers, the Debs is a for less words a ball, like senior prom I suppose for America. Most Irish teenagers will go to at least one in their life, as at the end of 6th and ones leaving cert one is organised for the end of the summer, in a way its an event bringing our secondary school life to an end and introducing us into the 'real world' .. methaphorically of course.....
In other words its a reason for us to get dressed up and drink the whole night.

Collective Haul

Over the last few months, well since the sales started, I've picked up a few pieces that I thought would stand the test of my wardrobe. As I am yet to blog about my personal style I figured this would be a good introduction into how my mind works when shopping in the sales.

Sales can be such a vicious time too, woman alike during the summer and winter sales turn into ferious grabbers with no awareness for their fellow shoppers. If you have any funny stories I'd love to hear about them, at the end of the coming week I'll choose my favourite and post it.

I have a insy teeny obsession with the colour grey and large oversized sweaters, so when I saw this in H&M recently my heart told me 'Darling you must have it'. The great indenspensible thing about sweaters like this are you can dress them up for a night out with a large statement necklace a pair of skinnys and ladylike stilettos or throw it on over a pair of leggings and trainers for days that seem slobbish.
grey yogo dipped hem grey sweater 20euro H&M

An ovesized graphic silk Tee... what more can I say really? I am yet to wear it, but my do I plans for this! The print on it is astounding, and I adore the colour -almost a hued down flourescent orange- it will look briliant with turquise and gold jewellary. I watched this piece go down from 20 odd to 8euro, bargain much?
Special Garment silk Tshirt with victorian dinning hall print, Zara

Printed pencil skirts are set to be big this A/W.  I actually had my eye on this for some time in Zara but resisted the urge to splurge at the beginning of the sales and patiently waited until it dropped again. I'd personally pair this with a slim black or khaki green top (even peplum would add another nod to the womaly 50's)  and some silver jewellary. For more nightclub wear, I'd throw on a simple silk shirt some blingy jewellary and killer heels.
Printed Pencil Skirt, 7.99euro, Zara

Last but not least, some stationary for college. Muji is one of my favourite all time stores, I just love their notebooks and graphic pens, and couldnt help put buy some notebooks for the oncoming college year.

Project cloudy with a chance of studs

Hollymotherofgod....
I'm starting to realise why these shorts are expensive. It's manual labour fraying these things. I've got a cramp in my hand, and blisters forming on my thumb from going at the shorts with a minuscule tweezer which I soon replaced with a longer one. No change. It is tiring. My dad is ignoring the trail of threads I leave whenever I move, whilst my mammy laughs out as she says ' I told you so' looking at my face of wrenching in a mix of fierce concentration and pain.
Livid.

What I've been doing is taking the horizontal white threads with the tweezers and pulling them downwards as to unravel the blue threads thus giving the frayed edges. I'd advise if you get a clump of white threads DO NOT CUT THEM OFF because I learnt the hard way you can accidentally cut off the blue threads which you just spent a half hour unraveling...

DIY project/ cloudy with a chance of studs

Looking around the high street and even the vintage stores, shorts, like short shorts, and I mean bum bearing shorts, seem to be bloody everywhere. And y'know what? They're pretty cool. But a hella expensive for something that has less fabric then a kitchen towel. €28 for 'vintage' in Fierce in temple bar, €40 odd in River Island and similar again in Topshop. So I figured I could do that myself!
Grabbing a scissors, a tweezers and an old pair of Zara city shorts ( 3 years old, worn several times in 2009...) I decided to get to work. I shall document this working progress until I'm happy that I've defeated these shops at their own game.

Keep in tune for the sketch to take shape

Review

So I thought to myself last night what will I start with as my first official written post? I got so distracted I ended up eating my powder brush. I know. Awkward. With a mouth full of makeup, I was distraught to see that one thing all girls hate to see. The Silver Circle.

That circle has somehow managed to escape my notice for some time now. This powder is The Best Powder for pale skin I have come across, and let alone actually stuck to using to develop a silver circle.

Being extraordinarily pale during the winter months straight up to mid July, I find it difficult to find a powder that actually matches my skin color, as it's neither a warm or cold paleness. Until I found this little beaut.

Sheer Finish Pressed Power in PALE YELLOW 1 by Bobbi Brown.

Containing yellow undertones it warms up my complexion when I need it, and takes away the icky shine teenage skin tends to get around the T zone, while at the same I feel I could wear this powder without any foundation as it evens out my skin when my cheeks get over pink be it due to weather or my eczema. What I particularly love about this certain powder is the matte texture and that the color blends down perfectly onto my neck, which I find can be quite a bother when buying makeup for pale skin. Your face may be pale, but you'll always be sure your neck is even paler.

personal rating 9/10 ( the hinge recently broke, and I haven't been exactly abusing the compact..)star rating 5/5

Let's Do This

SO this is my introductory post, to the world of blogging.
Hello m'darlings, my name is Lesley, I'm a nineteen year old student, literally only the other day got my Leaving Cert Results. In the next few weeks I'll be starting college ( whoop ). For the next year I'll be attending Marino College of Further Education in Dublin, I'll be studying graphic design and redoing my portfolio to submit to art college once again next year.

My goals for the coming year, is to maintain this blog, complete my portfolio and have a hella good time while doing both. My blog will be an eclectic grouping of fashion, music, things happening in Dublin reviews,  and things that interest in me. I plan on doing a few DIY projects over the next week that consist of dying, studs, and denim, ( not very original, but I told myself I would do this)

I hope you stick around, and if you want to know more about me, give me a shout, or want some advice - I've been told I'd make a good agony aunt- send me an email here or on my Tumblr.
