Music for 2013 Part 1

Music To Get Your Ears Ringing with Excitement for 2013

Toro Y Moi - Still Sound, Underneath The Pine 2011

Toro Y Moi

The third album from Toro Y Moi, the moniker of solo musician-slash-producer Chaz Bundick, is much more soulful and R&B influenced than his last chillwave cut Underneath the Pine. Regardless, you can expect Anything in Return to be every bit as repeat-worthy (and even more dance-able!). I'm new Toro's music, and his soulful chill out beats are made for relaxing on any sun drecnched day this summer.

Beach Fossils - Adversity, What A Pleasure 2011

Beach Fossils

Beach Fossils' first album was full of surf infused pop perfect for a sunny summer If the first single off the new Clash the Truth is any indication, this effort is sure to bring more jangly jams that'll make you want to hit the beach—stat.

Charli XCX - You're The One

Charli XCX

The Lovely Charlotte Aitchison, better known as English pop star Charli XCX, is a one woman showstopper with a wicked sense of style and music that makes you want to dance like a loon. Her brand, of new wave dance music  a sentiment confirmed by Santigold and Coldplay, whom she toured with prior to releasing a full-length record.

D&S loves..

WAX is a New York based magazine for the ‘urban surfer’.

Creative Directors Aeriel Brown, David Yun and Zak Klauck claim that surfing is more than just a trend and more than an obsessive devotion; it’s in fact a lifestyle that marries the daily urban environment with the escapism of sports. WAX is a beautifully designed magazine with features on artists, designers and film makers in New York that share this activity as part of their everyday life.

My dress is a plum, crushed velvet, wrap around with shoulder pads. I bought it for £26.99 from Missguided.co.uk

New Beginnings

Happy 2013 everyone!
Hope everyone had a fantastic New Years Eve, I had a quite good night surprisingly. I feel every year, these specific nights like halloween and new years ever are built up with so much expectation to be an epic night but seem to always disappoint.

I decided back in November though, this New Years I wanted to show everyone how much I've grown. Although I said to friends it was to show to a certain someone that I was over him, it was really to convince myself of that exact reason. And that for this night I'd pull out all the stops and somehow feel beautiful. Which I did. I felt like I stood out from a crowd of topshop engorged blondes with fake voices and fake personalities. ( NOTE: I love topshop but this group of girls get on my tits)

I don't plan on making any resolutions, just to feel comfortable in myself and only do things that make me happy and not to do things to make others happy. This year its about me, I'm nearing the top of my game, and I think this year I'll get the chance to show and feel how much of a great person I really am and to stop hiding behind a deafening silence of shyness that just isn't me.

Vogue January Cover

Gwen Stefani looks dazzlingly superb on the cover of the January 2013 issue of Vogue US
The singer and designer was photographed BY Annie Leibovitz and talks in the interview about reuniting with her band No Doubt, coping with her husband Gavin Rossdale going off on a year-long tour, and juggling her three fashion labels, being a mother and wife and fronting No Doubt. Gwen has been a role model of mine for a long time now, and I just can't wait to read the full interview.
